Aging in Place Addition

Like many adults with aging parents, tough questions regarding care for them come up. In this case, the client approached fuse57 to create an overall masterplan for a multi phased project. The first phase is a small addition to create an independent but accessible space for mom. This includes many aging in place elements like a curb-less shower, wider doors, lower counters, and ample lighting set in a modern aesthetic. The exterior has maintenance free siding with large windows that look out to garden spaces and orientated to face the sibling who lives next door. As part of the second phase, the kitchen and entry areas will be expanded and remodeled to create an open floor plan as well as constructing a new detached garage and workshop. As part of an investment strategy, ADU guidelines were overlayed with the aging in place addition to provide options for future uses.

Approximate budget - $225,000 not including design fees.
