The Ranch

What’s the reason for buying a 1954 midcentury ranch flavored home that has a broken swimming pool, outdated finishes and one less bedroom then kids? Well, it may be hard to believe but it’s about molding it into the users character and matching it to the daily routines of this family. For their kids (and parents), having their schools a block away helps.

The design solution was a two bedroom, one bath modern addition over the garage, reworking the mudroom space connecting the garage and the remodeled kitchen which was opened to join the visual company of the living and dining areas. The existing two main level bedrooms were converted into a master suite with a updated master bath and office/flex space. The kitchen cabinets are Ikea boxes with custom Grey Elm door fronts.
