This new urban Minneapolis home was designed for a young family that wanted a modern, but warm and inviting home. The home provides a strong connection between indoor and outdoor spaces while taking advantage of natural light. The main level features an open space that caters to the family’s energy. A simple material palette encourages continuity between the interior and exterior spaces and the use of clear cedar and walnut flooring create a feeling of warmth. 2010 AIA Home of the Month

Amherst

As this young family grew in numbers, their house went from the need to update to a serious look at how to make everything fit. The decision to remodel, rather move, was a culmination of factors like a great neighborhood, school systems and walking proximity to retail. The front dormer was enlarged to create space for a kid’s bath and a laundry area and the existing bath was converted into a master suite.

This charming bungalow suffered from a small kitchen and a bad layout. By opening up spaces, we borrowed some light and space from the dining room and improved the flow of the main level. The kitchen was given a new life with some budget friendly cabinets and updated fixtures.

What do two guys with more ambition then sense do in their spare time? Buy a distressed house and fix it up. The idea was simple – completely remodel it, offer it as an architecturally designed product and hopefully make a little money at it. Well, let’s just say there were two babies born during the process and the new owners couldn’t be happier.

Big Lake

Prior to the lot being purchased, this was a conceptual study for new modern home on Big Lake. Unfortunately, the City of Big Lake zoning is against flat roofed homes and the owners moved on. See the Maple Grove project.

Edina Kitchen

This still in progress kitchen and main level remodel to a rambler in Edina is designed to capture the artistic and social aspects of the owners’ personalities. With young active children and a love of entertaining, walls were removed between two disjointed living spaces to expand the space. The now open kitchen features custom cabinets and Ceasarstone countertops that reflect the couple’s modern taste.

Maple Grove

Scope of service included a conceptual study to remodel an existing lakeside 80’s rambler into a home with a modern aesthetic and a stronger connection to the lake. It’s fate is yet to be determined.
