from the ground up
[new construction]

tofotomo
242 Morgan Avenue North
Bryn Mawr - Minneapolis, MN

a rare opportunity to design a new modern house for a young growing urban family on a vacant lot less then five minutes from downtown minneapolis. some of the design ideas explored are expressing honesty in materials and forms, compression and expansion of spaces, maximizing passive energy systems, using lots of natural light and sticking to a tight budget.

tangletown triage
228 Amherst Street
Mac-Grove - St. Paul, MN

a whole house makeover where all rooms were updated. some more than others, like the kitchen and the bath.

the kitchen—
it's a bad thing when the local pizza place knows your address from the pizza you ordered. that was unfortunately the case here… but now that the take-out extravaganza is just a memory, they are eating much better. a few of the things they like are the heated floors and the 8'-0" patio door that floods the kitchen with morning light.

the bath—
what started out as a quick fix turned into a "while we're at it" thanks to the special order duravit tub and it's extraordinary lead time. they did offset the splurge on the tub by buying the sink and light from ikea, a medicine cabinet from target and getting the faucets off of ebay.

rethinking the core
[renovation]

longfellow serenade
3408 42nd Avenue South
Longfellow - Minneapolis, MN

what do two guys with more ambition then sense do in their spare time? buy a distressed house and fix it up. the idea was simple — completely remodel it, offer it as an architecturally designed product, and hopefully make a little money at it. well, let's just say there were two babies born during the process and the new owners couldn't be happier.
